Overall, I believe the execution of our performance was successful.
Our performance began with audio, this was water dripping sounds. We wheeled in the dining table, filled up the individual 8 water glasses and then served the meal, which was meatballs. We then began to fill up the ‘champagne tower’ glasses with tonic water, whilst there were facts playing through the speaker. The facts were stating the effects that meat production has on water use and quality. We actually used vegan meatballs, but did not tell the diners this, we really wanted them to think about the consequences of eating meat. The lights then dim to almost black and the diners are told to turn the torches on, making the tonic water glow and light up, emphasising the amount. The constant water pouring continued until the facts were done. The lights then came on, and the table is wheeled away.
From the dress rehearsal, we were given some feedback on what to do to improve. One of which being to overflow the cups more, to be more confronting to the diners. We managed to pour a huge amount of tonic water throughout the performance, making it spill on to the table and even splash onto the food.
If I were to do this performance again, I would use even more water, filling up the table. Also I would make the facts being played louder and more confronting. Other than that, I think that our group successfully demonstrated our ideas.
